Kate Davis - I joined the group in February 2004 by accident. I’m one of the many who came down with a friend to keep them company and then ended up enjoying it so much that I stayed. Since then I have made various set and props including wearable horses, skull rock and a gingerbread house. I’ve also acted in all of the productions, and particularly enjoy comedy, slapstick parts. Whilst putting a show on can be one of the most stressful experiences, when it all comes together, and the adrenalin kicks in, nothing beats it. I keep coming back every week because I love being around creative people who enjoy what they do. I’ve taken the responsibility as Chair for 2007-08 and I'm now trying my hand at directing 'Blue Remembered Hills' and ‘Pygmalion’. I’ve made some great friends, had lots of fun, and would recommend it to anyone.
Paul Agar – I have been attending the Washington theatre group since 2004. In that time I’ve been able to get involved in lots of different aspects of theatre such as acting, set building, set design, marketing, special effects and stage managing. This year I will be playing Prince Dashing in the upcoming pantomime Snow White and the Magic Mirror. Being in this group has helped me overcome a lot of social fears as well as gain a lot of social experience and friends. I get a lot of encouragement from the group which gives me strength and courage when performing on stage.
Pamela Jane Elliott - I joined the group in 2003 and in that time I have acted in various productions and have also been involved behind the scenes. I love coming down every week, you never know what you might get to do. Its always fun, exciting and above all I get to be with a great bunch of people.
Marie Lovell - (21-ish) I've been a member of the group for around 5 years. A fabulous asset to the world of philanthropic performance, I have immense talent for singing, dancing, acting, writing and producing is only matched by the skill I bring to dealing with the inevitable jealousy I face from less valuable members of the group. My motto is 'always think of the little people'. Being part of WTG has given me the chance to act, dance sing, write, produce, do technical stuff and write songs, in spite of the fact that I really have no talent for any of these things. I've played baddies (boo), goodies (yeah), fairies, pirates, sidekicks and even a few humans (including a merry man who was really a woman). What I love about the group is that there is something for everyone to do and we all work together to make the best of what each person can offer.
Peter Robertson - As a member since February 2004, I enjoy being involved in the group and its performances. Working along side its members who I consider to be my friends. I think they deserved the recognition these people get for performing shows for charities, such as the 'Night of Horror' show. I help where I can and I feel that being apart of this group is rewardable in many ways.
Matthew Lowe - I joined the Washington Theatre Group in 2006 and have enjoyed partaking in the current productions which has involved different styles of acting as well as singing. I am looking forward to taking part in further productions and developing different skills, as well as continuing to work with the great friends I have made here.
John Appleton – I joined WTG in February 2007, after a short twelve-year break from am-dram. Since joining I’ve found myself playing such parts as a seven-year-old Spitfire impersonator, a pantomime dame and an Edwardian gent with fabulous mutton chops. It’s been a big confidence booster and I’d recommend it to anyone, even those who don’t feel they have much confidence, as that’ll come in time. It’s a very friendly group, great fun to work with and I hope to add to the list of bizarre characters I’ve played in the years to come.
Robert Hardy (Bob) – I am retired but not yet too old to enjoy life. I used to be a Lecturer in Sheet metalwork and welding for 17 years and then in Computer Studies for 8 years. I have always been interested in theatre and joined an amateur drama group in Felling back in 1973 where I played a few parts and also did background sounds. After moving to Washington I decided I would like to get back into theatre. I joined the WTG in February 2007. It was one of the best things that I’ve done. Everyone in the group is so friendly and helpful and I hope to learn a lot from them. I have been active in the production of two plays and two pantomimes (including the current Snow White in January of 2009). Being a member of the WTG is great fun and I ain’t gonna leave, unless they kick me out!
.
Matthew Littledyke – I enjoy coming to the theatre group because it gives me the chance to interact with other people on stage and gives me the opportunity to socialise with other people and the fun of making friends.
Richard Littlejohn - I joined Washington Theatre Group in September 2008. I've never been involved in theatre before, but I used to enjoy running sound and lighting for bands at gigs so I thought I'd come along and give it a go. Since then I've really enjoyed coming along each week, watching the latest performance come together and getting to know a highly talented and friendly group of people.
